Canaries for sale
Canaries available now: 2018! Please contact if interested...no chicks are available to breeders, so please don't bother asking.
Forcing a bird to live alone for the term of its natural life amounts to CRUELTY - don’t do it.
While I am not a breeder, I prefer to provide conditions for my birds that are as natural as possible, despite confinement to a spacious aviary, and they are therefore able to produce a couple of clutches per season (any more than that is cruel as it depletes the female of essential nutrients, which can result in the loss of the bird). After grappling with the ethical dilemma of finding good homes for the few offspring produced each year, and not wishing to consider a pet shop as an option (many pet shops are overcrowded and the birds can become unhealthy), they are therefore offered for sale here at far less than the inflated retail price. Males and females have exactly the same value, and this is reflected in the pricing:
All birds $25 each,
regardless of colour, gender, singing ability, age or size.
BANDING IS CRUEL AND UNNECESSARY
No birds are banded as it is considered an unnecessary practice (some bird species try to remove bands placed on very young chicks, which can result in the mutilation of the chicks). Canaries can develop a leg abscess from a band which can bleed, resulting in attacks from the other birds. Banding has value only to breeders who show birds.
ENVIRONMENT & HEALTH
The young canaries were hatched indoors in a spacious birdcage/aviary with natural branches, light and warmth, and plenty of fresh food daily such as corn, spinach and other greens, apple, watermelon, grapes, mango, and a variety of seeds. They are given egg and nutritional supplements regularly as required. They are very healthy and lively. They are not coloured artificially with chemical additives used to produce red factor birds.
In the interest of finding good homes for the birds, it is expected that the conditions of their new environment will be similar to their current one.
